Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Typetion ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and shares information about you. It applies to our macOS application, Typetion (the "App"), and our website, typetion.com (the "Site").
1. Data Controller
The data controller responsible for your personal data is Typetion (registered as Eduard Belianinik), with its registered address at al. Solidarności 68/121, 00-240 Warsaw, Poland (NIP: 5214122045, REGON: 542054335).
For any matters related to the processing of your personal data, please contact us at privacy@typetion.com.
2. Information We Collect
We collect a minimal amount of information necessary to provide and improve our service. Providing your data is voluntary, but necessary to use our service (e.g., to create an account).
Information You Provide to Us
Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address. If you sign in with Google, we also receive your name and profile picture URL from Google. We use this to identify you and provide access to the App (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b) — performance of a contract).
Billing information. If you purchase a subscription, payments are processed by Stripe. We do not receive or store your full card details. We may receive limited billing information such as your billing name, billing address, country, VAT ID (if provided), subscription status, invoice/receipt details, and transaction identifiers. We use this to provide the service and to meet legal obligations (e.g., accounting and taxes) (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b) and Art. 6(1)(c)).
Information We Collect Automatically
Website analytics (Site). We use Umami, a privacy-focused analytics tool that does not use cookies and anonymizes your IP address. It collects aggregate information (e.g., pages visited and country-level location). We use this based on our legitimate interests to understand traffic and improve the Site (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).
Crash/error reports (App). We use Sentry only for crash/error monitoring. When an error occurs, Sentry may collect diagnostic data (e.g., device information, OS version, IP address, and what the App was doing at the time). Where possible, we configure Sentry to minimize collection and scrub sensitive data. We rely on our legitimate interests to keep the service reliable (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).
Information We DO NOT Collect
Your content. The content you create in the App is stored locally on your Mac. We do not host or store your files on our servers. If you use AI-powered features, we transmit only what is needed to process your request and we do not keep that content after the request completes.
In-app usage analytics. We do not collect analytics about how you use the App. The only data we may receive from the App is crash/error diagnostic data when something goes wrong (see Crash/error reports above).
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
Provide the service. Create and maintain your account, and let you use the App.
Improve reliability. Use aggregate website analytics and crash/error reports to fix bugs and improve stability.
Communicate with you. Send essential, service-related emails (no marketing emails without your explicit consent).
Provide AI-powered features. When you use AI features, we send the relevant parts of your content to third-party AI providers (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, Mistral) to process your request and return an answer. We choose providers that state they do not train models on data submitted via API. However, these providers may temporarily retain your data (typically up to 30 days) for detecting and preventing misuse, in accordance with their own privacy policies.
4. Third-Party Service Providers
We use third-party service providers (data processors) to operate, deliver, and improve our services, including:
Cloudflare, Inc. for security and delivery of our Site and related infrastructure.
Stripe for subscription payments and billing.
Sentry (Functional Software, Inc.) for crash/error monitoring.
Umami for website analytics.
AI providers (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, Mistral) to process content when you use AI-powered features.
This list may change from time to time as we evaluate and update the services we use.
5. International Data Transfers
Website analytics data is stored on servers within the European Union and is not transferred outside the EU.
Some providers (e.g., Cloudflare and Sentry) may process data in the United States or other countries. For these transfers, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) to ensure your data is protected.
6. Data Security
We implement reasonable security measures, including encryption, to protect your information. However, no online service is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Data Retention
We keep your personal data, such as your account information, only for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with our services. If you request account deletion by contacting us at privacy@typetion.com, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, unless we are legally required to retain it (for example, for tax and accounting purposes).
Anonymized data, such as aggregated usage statistics, which can no longer be linked to you, may be kept for analytical purposes.
8. Your Data Protection Rights
Depending on your location (e.g., if you are in the EEA), you have the right to access, update, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal information. You can also object to processing, request data portability, and withdraw consent.
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at privacy@typetion.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local Data Protection Authority.
9. Children's Privacy
Our service is not intended for individuals under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that we have, we will take steps to delete it.
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The latest version will always be available on this page. For significant changes, we will provide a more prominent notice (e.g., via email). We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
